Senior Project Accountant – Vancouver, Calgary or GTA - ( AUS0006XS )

Currently, we have an exciting opportunity for a customer focused, technically experienced Project Accountant who wants to work with world-class clients to bring solutions that are as imaginative as they are inspiring. You will provide financial advice and analysis to support business decision making throughout the contracts for complex EPC projects.
About the role
- Timely and accurate preparation of project client invoices in accordance with contractual obligations and business SLA’s.
- Project accounting activities for client invoices including coding and editing time and expense transactions.
- Understanding project contracts, budgets, and billing status, to assist managing project billing activities.
- New project setups and ongoing project setup maintenance in accordance with contract terms and change orders.
- Currency reconciliation and preparing cashflows in multiple currencies.
- Ensuring accurate GST/VAT treatment.
- Coordinating vendor payments/holdbacks.
- Interpret, compile and analyze project financial data to generate reports, particularly using Excel.
- Assisting with other accounting and administrative projects as assigned.
- Establish strong working relationships with project team to ensure accurate reporting in non-project systems.
About you
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in an accounting role, with a meaningful focus on client billing in a professional services industry.
- Post-secondary education coupled with enrollment in the CPA program is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge in large project environment, preferably in EPC context. Engineering and design/build experience would be an asset.
- General understanding of project controls, purchasing, and project cost reporting functions working in multiple currencies.
- Ability to prioritize and process large volumes of work accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and report on project financial data.
- Ability to read and interpret contracts to set up projects in accordance to commercial terms.
- Strong customer service focus with ability to grow and maintain relationships with Project Managers to effectively invoice their clients.
- A minimum of 3 years large ERP system experience (Oracle preferred).
- Ability to think logically and apply decision making in relation to project accounting responsibilities.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to problem-solve in a collaborative manner.
