The Opportunity:


WSP is currently seeking a Junior or Intermediate Construction Inspector to join our Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Team, located at our Moncton office. Reporting to the Manager of T&I, this position will be responsible for providing contract administration duties and performing and/or inspecting quality assurance (QA) acceptance on various infrastructure field projects, which may include roads, culverts, municipal water and sewer, subdivisions, or commercial site developments

A day in the life:

  • Liaison with client representatives to administer the construction.
  • Take full responsibility for CA deliverables and monitor them as per the Consultant agreement;
  • Interpret and analyze contractor’s critical path (schedule);
  • Negotiate Price agreements, change orders, claims and work directives for all work that is not covered in the contract documentation;
  • Ensure contractor adheres to contract requirements; e.g. legal, environmental, construction standards, protection of wildlife, etc.;
  • Perform and/or supervise quality assurance (QA) acceptance and inspection of construction;
  • Identification, documentation and assessment for rating of deficiencies (deviations from Contractor’s Quality Control Process and or project standards) in the contractor’s work;
  • Maintain detailed daily diaries of contractor’s work, contract progress and inspection milestones;
  • Ensure inspection tasks are completed and recorded in a prompt and accurate manner;
  • Ensure approved construction materials are used and acquired from approved sources and a record is kept of such materials;
  • Be a company representative and act on behalf of the company;
  • Travel and work on contracts throughout NB;
  • Other duties as assigned.

We'd love to hear from you if you have ...

  • At least 2+ years’ experience with an emphasis on the construction phase of projects;
  • Civil Engineering Diploma from an accredited college;
  • Have experience administering transportation and municipal construction projects or similar type of work pertaining to road and municipal infrastructure construction;
  • Sound knowledge of municipal design standards, Standard Specifications for Municipal Services and methods associated with transportation and municipal infrastructure construction;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Laws and Regulations (Environmental, Health and Safety, etc.) and their application in construction contracts;
  • Knowledge and skill in interpreting and applying construction practices; procedures and quality assurance techniques;
  • Experience with Autodesk Civil 3D would be an asset;
  • Experience with construction surveying (total station and GPS) would be an asset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule inspection work;
  • Valid NB driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
