Who are you?

For you, there’s just something special about applying your knowledge and financial acumen to find meaning in the numbers, and telling a story to help business leaders take thoughtful action and make sound decisions.

You’re ready to take your passion for finance to the next level. You’re a seasoned finance professional looking for a challenging opportunity that will allow you to make a difference beyond the numbers.

Who are we?

We’re Ian Martin Group, and we’ve partnered with a global leader in wireless connectivity who are also recognized as the Smart Parking leader in North America. They have focused on making our communities smarter by improving operations, reducing greenhouse gases, reducing water consumption, improving mobility, and increasing revenues.

Now, they are looking for a detail-oriented, driven, and organized Manager of Finance & Administration to join their team. Could this be you?

Manager of Finance & Administration

You will work collaboratively with the team, responsible for all areas relating to daily operations of the accounting department and financial reporting, including, but not limited to: oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and producing accurate and timely financial statements.

Reporting to the Director, Finance & Administration, you will be responsible for the daily accounting functions, payroll, benefit administration, office administration, and reporting of on-hand inventory quantities. You are resourceful, flexible, reliable, and entrepreneurial. You enjoy challenges, while working closely with stakeholders in a fast-paced, small team environment.

Practically speaking you will:

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting team, including accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, corporate credit card account, general ledger, processing month and year end accounting entries, check runs, wire transfers, and debt activity
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Quarterly HST/GST tax filings
  • Support fundraising activities and government programming, rebates, tax credits, grants, and other funding the Company is eligible to receive as we continue to scale
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits
  • Manage bi-weekly disbursement for approximately 30 employees
  • Work with the Office Manager to maintain accurate on-hand inventory levels and valuation, including periodic inventory counts
  • Work with our insurance partners to obtain updated certificates of request as needed for our various partners
  • Manage contract administration activities including NDAs, customer agreements, and vendor agreements

The best in this role will be:

  • Independent – you don’t need or want someone looking over your shoulder. You’re always results-oriented and keep tabs on different projects with ease.
  • Organized– you have experience managing multiple projects at once, so you can juggle competing priorities with ease. You never miss an important deadline.
  • Strong communicator – you’re not afraid to ask questions and learn from mistakes and able to communicate on a regular basis.

The Details

This is a full-time, permanent position. If you're currently located in the Kitchener/Waterloo region, the position is a hybrid model of remote + in office. This position is also open to candidates who are located in other provinces and interested in working remotely.

You’ll earn a competitive base salary, have a comprehensive benefits package, long term disability and 4 weeks of vacation to start.

What you’ll bring

  • Post-secondary education with diploma or degree in accounting
  • Sound knowledge of accounting procedures and practices with 2-5 years of financial and cost accounting experience
  • A strong track record of achieving targets, deadlines, and sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated advanced MS Office Suite skills, presentation, and reporting expertise, and experience with accounting software
  • Experience with consolidated reporting of multiple entities is considered an asset

Your Application

We value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply. We encourage all qualified candidates to apply; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

At Ian Martin, we connect people with meaningful work. We work with people like you for similar technical roles. If you apply, be sure to create a profile with us. That way, great technical jobs will come to you before they even get to the job boards.
