BCIT’s Computing Department is currently seeking two temporary, full-time (1.0 FTE ) highly talented, motivated and qualified professionals ready for the next level and next challenge in their careers to be Instructors at either our Burnaby campus or our Downtown campus.

The position is to teach in the Full Stack Web Development ( FSWD ) and Computer Information Technology ( CIT ) programs. Candidates must have strong communication skills, and will be required to assume responsibilities for curriculum development and academic leadership. Having teaching or mentoring experience is a prerequisite for this position. We offer full-time and part-time positions.
Duties & Responsibilities DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

The CIT program prepares student for work across in all areas of information technology with a focus on modern operations including DevOps. For this program, we are seeking applicants with skills and industry expertise in one or more of the following:
  • IT Infrastructure Management and Automation.
  • Web Administration and Development.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Design and Administration.
  • Systems Integration including Micro-Services.
  • DevOps Implementation.
  • Network Design and Administration.
  • Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean).

The FWSD program is focused on equipping students to become competent front and backend web development. For this program, we are seeking applicants with skills and industry expertise in one or more of the following:
  • Extensive Experience in Front and Back End Development (Javascript, Node.js, Vue.js ).
  • Expertise in one or more modern frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, etc).
  • Database Design and Implementation (Relational and NoSQL based).
  • Architecting Web Applications at Scale.
  • UX / UI Design and Development.
  • Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean).

Applicants with skills and industry expertise in one or more of the following areas will be given preference:
  • IT Administration and Infrastructure Management
  • Web Administration
  • Full Stack Web Development
  • Systems Integration
  • Legal and Ethical Aspects of IT
  • Project Management

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Minimum three years of current and relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum related Master’s degree, PhD an asset
  • Demonstrated exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Teaching topics in software development, IT and related technologies in a post-secondary, education environment would be an asset.
  • A passion for teaching computing and information technology.
  • Online teaching experience considered an asset.

Salary Range Salary range: $56,845 - $99,571
Additional Salary Information Salary prorated based on percentage and term of appointment. Salary based on education, experience and placement criteria as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
