JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Infrastructure team as a Database Engineer with emphasis on DB2 as the priority DB technology followed by others MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle, Sybase. The successful candidate will be required to collaborate with peers, support teams and partners to develop solutions, provide advanced technical support, work in a creative, fast-paced agile environment, and show a keep interest in solving highly complex technical problems. WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provide day-to-day operational and emergency support of core Database DB infrastructure systems including SAN, OS and associated platforms and hosting solutions (On-Prem, Cloud and Hybrid)
  • Design and Implement hybrid DB infrastructure systems that are scalable, stable and efficient
  • Monitor DB systems and Identify patterns that affect the performance, reliability, or availability of a system or service and drive them out of the system through automation or other technical innovations
  • Implement automation of recurrent tasks through scripting where possible
  • Maintain documentation regarding configurations, operations and troubleshooting procedures for both internal and customer-facing systems
  • Participate in post-mortem and root cause analysis
  • Participate in evaluating new requirements for DB’s; technical designs, the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics as directed
  • Responsible for DB incident, problem, change and configuration management processes for the infrastructure platforms, including license management
  • Ensure operational stability of DB’s by maintaining security patching and vulnerability remediation on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Manage and maintain all DB inventory and standards
  • Provide solution and system architecture support for new DB products and services
  • Participate in on-call rotation and off-hours support activities
  • Research industry trends, best practices and new technologies that will provide operational insights to Infrastructure teams

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
  • 5-10 years of expertise in many technical areas such as:
  • DB environments SQL, Oracle, DB2, Sybase, Maria DB, etc.
  • Operating Systems (AIX, Windows, Solaris, Red Hat)
  • Storage / Backup and Recovery / DR Solutions
  • Experience working in a complex environment
  • Experience with full stack monitoring tools
  • University Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Relevant Technical Certifications
  • Self-motivated, with a proven ability to motivate and inspire others
  • Proven ability to plan realistic process and solution designs requirements appropriate to identified risk scenarios
  • Must be a creative and strategic thinker, working comfortably in a highly collaborative environment and be effective in a constantly evolving environment
  • Must be naturally and innately curious, a lifelong learner, have a thirst for knowledge, and can remain calm and composed in times of uncertainty and stress, inspiring the same in others
  • A strong understanding of Information / Application / Infrastructure Security
  • Performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organization skills with a results-oriented mindset
  • Strong strategic planning and transformation discipline, which experience building and communicating business cases for technology change
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with both business and IT stakeholders and leaders, as well as related IT project and operations teams
  • Ability to assess necessary activities and prioritize for completion of assignments using excellent time management, prioritization skills and work ethic
  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to strive under pressure
  • High level of creativity and ability to think outside-the-box
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • During peak periods, an irregular work schedule may be expected
  • On-call Required
