Job description

Avalanche Technician or Forecaster position includes:

  • Performing all Ski Patrol duties
  • Gathering daily weather, snowpack and avalanche observations
  • Understanding, evaluating and communicating avalanche conditions
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

Job requirements:

  • Advanced skiing ability (black diamond moguls)
  • Valid 80-hour wilderness first aid certification or equivalent
  • Valid CPR or BLS certificate
  • CAA Operations Level 2
  • Valid Alberta (or BC) Blasters certificate
  • High level of physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all-weather conditions
  • Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly for communication using radios and telephone
  • Previous experience as an avalanche technician and ski patroller
  • Practices current OGRS standards
  • Current InfoEx experience
  • Climbing and rope rescue skills

Job assets:

  • CSIA Level 1 or 2
  • Snowmobile operation
  • ACMG or CSG or IRATA
